SADDLE FIT
The placement of a saddle should allow
for freedom of movement of the
scapula. The front of the saddle should sit at the 7th thoracic vertebra. On a horse the 7th thoracic vertebra is at the withers. On a donkey the 7th thoracic vertebra is slightly farther back. It is important that on a donkey the girth is placed far enough back that it does not slide the saddle forward so it interferes with the shoulder movement.
